There is something very Scandinavian about a sledge. It is an object familiar to all children and grown-ups during winter, and the cause of hours of fun in the snow. The Danish design duo Helle and Jonas Herman from Herman Studio have reinterpreted the classic sledge as we know it, and turned it into a piece of furniture that you can sit on while putting on your shoes, which are stored inside the sledge together with your gloves, scarves etc. It is called PULK and is made from oak and held together by full-grain leather.  PULK is being launched by Herman Cph.

“With PULK we have reinterpreted the anatomy of a sledge and turned it into a piece of furniture, turned things upside down and created a new function from a strong reference” says Helle Herman Mortensen, who continues by explaining “it is inspired by the life of a nomad as we are constantly moving”.

If you are going to the blickfang fair in Hamburg you can see PULK for yourself, as Helle and Jonas are introducing the sledge here for the first time.
