Autumn has announced its arrival. The days are short and dark, the cold weather chills the cheeks and the air is fresh and dry. The time has come to turn on the lights, take out the big woollen blankets and the hot chocolate and get the whole feeling of what we Danes call “hygge”.

Autumn not only brings a lot of “hygge”, it also brings a series of new, beautiful product launches, causing the autumn to have a special place in our hearts. DANISH™ brings you a selection of this season’s news.

Piloti by Fredericia Furniture

The Piloti table collection was created by a collaboration between Fredericia Furniture and the Portuguese designer Hugo Passos. Piloti seems, at first glance, very simple and minimal in its design: a typical light table with four legs. But, if you look closely, you will notice lavish little details in the series. A subtle profiling on the table top adds extra design finesse and makes the table top appear extra slim with a smooth transition to the round legs.

Are you into storytelling and cherishing Mother Earth?

Then the new hand-tufted rugs from Mater are definitely worth a look. Each rug tells a story about how our earth is exposed to destruction and it is down to us, humans, to remember to cherish the earth we have been given. The inspiration for the rugs is interpretations of three photographs taken by the Foundation for Deep Ecology organization, which works to preserve nature and wildlife.

The collection is produced in conformity with Mater’s high ethical standards, with a maximum focus on sustainability and the environment.

SHUFFL by Erik Jørgensen

Erik Jørgensen has created a modular sofa with a focus on design, craftsmanship and rhythm. The name SHUFFL is inspired by the world of music, where the combination of different rhythms constitutes an aesthetic and harmonious expression.

The designer of SHUFFL, Anne Boysen says: “At home I often work from my sofa where I draw, research and sit with my computer. Therefore, I have long wanted to create a sofa that could meet my needs for flexibility, storage and comfort. SHUFFL is the ideal piece of furniture for an office, university or library”.

Anoon & Norli from By Lassen

By Lassen has launched two products that have just hit the stores: Anoon & Norli. Anoon is a multifunctional trolley, which is based on an original sketch by Flemming Lassen. The trolley was taken to a private arrangement in the summer of 1943, and was designed as a tea trolley for a wealthy family.

“When we found the amazing drawing by Flemming Lassen, we felt immediately that it matched many of the elements we find interesting as we start developing a product. I refer in particular to properties such as multifunctionality and flexibility,” describes director and co-owner of By Lassen, Nadia Lassen.

The dinner service set, Norli, is a series of plates, bowls, and cups, with a simple expression and a unique functionality. The set can be used in its traditional sense, but the four plates can also be used as lids on the four bowls that are also part of the series.
