See the 18 persons assessing the design solutions submitted to Denmark’s major design award, the Danish Design Award.
As the Danish Design Award celebrates its second year, the jury has grown by four members as ambassadors for four new categories. Also, the four new categories – Building Markets, Fostering Partnerships, Improved Welfare and Game Changer – celebrate businesses and designers for the difference their solutions make to industry and society.
“We are very proud to present this year’s jury. The members make up a highly-qualified team with business and design competences to match the categories and evaluation criteria of the award. The fundamental purpose of the Danish Design Award is to act as an eye-opener to business and industry regarding the value created by design in companies, in society at large and for citizens”, says the Danish Design Award jury chairperson, Jesper von Wieding.
Each member of the jury functions as ambassador for one of the 18 categories, based on their competences and field of work. The winner of the 19th category, the special People’s Choice award, is determined by online public vote between all the finalists.
“Another key purpose is to bring the design field together – the excellent partnership between Design denmark and the Danish Design Centre is one example, along with our new partnerships in the cities of Kolding and Aarhus. This makes it even more gratifying to note that the jury represents such a wide range of design areas, education, foundations and businesses”, says Jesper von Wieding.
Power to the People
Besides the jury’s assessments and evaluation of design solutions, the Danish Design Award also honours a design award for solutions that are selected by the public. The purpose of the People’s Choice award is to generate interest in the broader understanding of design amongst the public. Members of the general public in Denmark can vote online for any of the finalist entries until 22 May 2017 and the winner will be presented 31 May at the second stage of the Danish Design Award in Kolding, Denmark.
