Between 15 and 18 March, the southern French city of Cannes is hosting MIPIM, which is an international property event that includes exhibitions, networking and conference sessions. This year, the 27th MIPIM will again bring influential players from the property and architectural sectors together. It is a place for great developments and knowledge sharing within the industry. With more than 1500 architects expected in Cannes this March, MIPIM has become a major event for international architecture.
“For architects, MIPIM offers a unique forum where they can showcase their achievements to prospective clients including developers, local authorities and international investors. And it also provides an exceptional launchpad alongside their internationally renowned colleagues for young architects who are still little known in the real estate community,” says Julien Sausset, Director of MIPIM.
Denmark is represented by a series of architectural companies, including 3XN, schmidt hammer lassen architects and Henning Larsen Architects. 3XN’s Founding Partner and Creative Director, Kim Herforth Nielsen, will attend a PechaKucha session. In this rapid and amusing presentation format, speakers will address topics such as social housing, luxury and the housing crisis. Each speaker will have to convince the audience with 20 images lasting 20 seconds each – a total of six minutes and 40 seconds.
Furthermore, Kristian Ahlmark, who is senior partner at schmidt hammer lassen architects, will give a talk during the conference. Design Director and Principal Partner at Henning Larsen Architects, Louis Becker, also will be among the keynote speakers.
In addition to being the host of a big expo and conference, MIPIM also has an awards show that celebrates architectural developments all over the world. The nominees for the MPIM awards include the Danish architectural firm White Architects for its psychiatric hospital in Aabenraa, Denmark, which is nominated in the category ‘Best Healthcare Development’.
The Danish architectural company AART architects and Musholm Holiday Centre for people with disabilities is a nominee in the category ‘Best Hotel & Tourism Resort’. Last but not least, the Danish architectural firm Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects is a nominee in the category ‘Best Innovative Green Building’ for Gladsaxe Company House.
We look forward to bringing you more stories from this year’s MIPIM, so stay tuned.
