Tomorrow, 29 August, a new architecture exhibition called CREATE WITH aarhUS is opening in Aarhus, Denmark, as part of the RISING Architecture Week’s Pre-Event. Taking place at the newly opened, multifunctional complex Dokk1, the exhibition revolves around the city’s architecture and sustainable development. Denmark’s Minister of Culture, Bertel Haarder, and the mayor of Aarhus, Jacob Bundsgaard, will open the exhibition at 10 AM. It runs until 5 September.
Apart from the architecture exhibition, RISING will also host seven other events this Saturday. At 11 AM, you can go on a guided tour of Dokk1 led by architects from Danish architectural firm schmidt hammer lassen architects, who designed the complex.
A total of three walks will also take place during the day. The first is called ‘Green city walk in Mejlgade’, and will feature a talk about why sustainability is making the city a better place to live. The walk starts at 11 AM from the Women’s Museum at Domkirkepladsen 5.
Secondly, you can explore Aarhus’s secret harbour. The walk is to the southern harbour of Aarhus, where several creative entrepreneurs have settled down. This walk is at 2 PM and begins at Europaplads 16 by Hotel Atlantic.
The final walk will show you the urban flora and fauna living in the city. At 3 PM you will hear about how easy it is to rethink urban habitats. The walk starts from Aarhus Theatre.
If you are not keen on walking, RISING also invites you to listen to two talks about architecture. Firstly, you can learn how architects can create a softer city by using temporary architecture and creative design. The talk starts at 2 PM at Aarhus Theatre. At 4 PM, you can hear a talk about the meatpacking district’s history and the creative entrepreneurs who have settled there. It takes place at Kulbroen at Aarhus Harbour.
In the evening, RISING will host a reception and party with a DJ, bar and lounge at Kunsthal Aarhus for all architecture lovers. Participation in one of the earlier events of the day will grant you access to the party.
