HANDVÄRK is a Danish premium furniture brand founded in 2015 by designer and architect Emil Thorup. The brand makes handcrafted furniture that is simple and minimalistic, nevertheless, edgy in terms of expression and materials, and the Danes love it.

“I am incredibly fond of metals and stone and felt that we were lacking a brand daring enough to experiment with these kinds of materials, whilst still sustaining the simple and applicable Nordic DNA.”

In Denmark, the majority of Danish furniture brands work with wood, but HANDVÄRK makes furniture in steel, iron, brass, marble and leather – all in high quality. These materials are heavy to work with, and therefore, HANDVÄRK has had to come up with innovative solutions in terms of production, assembling and packaging. However, the products are still kept at attractive price levels.

With HANDVÄRK comes a unique system in which all elements of the design are repeated as frequently as possible in all products. The handcrafted brackets serve as the pillar of the product-line and are repeated 8-12 times per item. This way the brand can increase the volume of the production, which allows them to keep the prices at an attractive level.

All surfaces come in genuine marble – a precious and delicate material. They get their marble from all around the world and collaborate with capable suppliers – securing a high, homogenous quality.

The efficient production process gives HANDVÄRK the opportunity of an incredibly short reaction time, and they are already working on two new collections; WHITE on WHITE and the Polygon Edition. Both collections are based on new trends but still they are deeply rooted in the timeless Nordic idiom.
